Careers at 1st Choice Companies

If you take pride in your craft and want to be part of a team that builds and protects some of the most valued lakefront properties in the Richland and Gull Lake area, we want to hear from you. At 1st Choice Companies, we have spent over 20 years growing from a lawn care operation into a full-service custom home builder and white-glove property management firm. The people who do that kind of work matter, and we are always looking for skilled, dependable professionals to grow with us.

We handle high-end residential work that most contractors never get near: custom lakefront home builds, complete structural rebuilds, historic cottage restorations, premium kitchen and bathroom remodels, basement waterproofing, rot repair, and full window replacements. Our contractor positions available span a range of trades, from framing and carpentry to plumbing, electrical, and drywall. Every project is managed through a Property Solutions Team Lead model, meaning you work alongside experienced leadership on every job site. If you are looking for construction jobs hiring in the greater Kalamazoo region, this is the kind of work that builds a career, not just a paycheck.

Our employment opportunities extend beyond new construction. We run a full white-glove property management division that includes seasonal home watch programs, dock placement and removal, leak sensor installation, HVAC maintenance, and 24/7 emergency storm response. Team members who join our team take on meaningful, varied work for clients who depend on us year-round. We operate within a 15-mile radius of Richland, MI, with a strong focus on the Gull Lake and Kalamazoo areas. We use an online content management system to document every project with daily logs and photo records, so your work is visible, accountable, and recognized. We are a residential-only operation, which means focused, consistent work without the complexity of commercial contracting.
